In this workshop, we will immerse ourselves in the practice of ‘Deep Listening’, developed by composer Pauline Oliveros. Over four hours, participants will gently explore the landscapes of sound and body through exercises such as meditative listening, text-score improvisation, and reflective journaling, allowing awareness and perception to quietly expand.

A Year of Deep Listening is a publication of 365 scores for listening gathered by the Center for Deep Listening in celebration of the legacy of groundbreaking composer Pauline Oliveros.

Originally begun online, in honor of what would have been Oliveros' 90th birthday (May 30, 2022), the project shared one score per day across social media for 365 days. The book version of A Year of Deep Listening brings these scores together into one beautiful and historic volume. An expression of the Deep Listening community, the scores were created by over 300 artists--ranging from prize winning composers to ear-minded grocery store clerks, from those who worked closely with Oliveros for decades to those who never met her.

Migration Sounds is the first ever global collection of the sounds of human migration, using sound to reframe and reimagine conversations around migration.&#38;nbsp;
Sound recordings telling the personal stories of migration from 51 countries have been recomposed and reimagined by artists from all over the world, taking these sounds to an entirely new place.The project is the result of a year-long partnership between Cities and Memory and the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS)&#38;nbsp; at the University of Oxford.

桃園市兒童美術館「咬耳朵Sound Bite」展覽，其命題聯想自美國新聞產業於1970年代發明的術語「聲刺」(Soundbite)，意指新聞中的「精彩片段」，如果進一步將英文詞彙字義拆解，Sound指的是聲音，Bite則指的是咬住、緊抓住，而這也如同藝術家運用敏銳的感知，從生活中的細節找尋、抓取可能被忽略，或是不曾為人知的聲響，並且運用多元媒介與方法，轉譯、傳達他們內心獨特的感受與想法。

展覽邀請王福瑞、張君慈、曾偉豪、蔡咅璟+吳宗龍、鄭琬蒨、蕭聖健等六組藝術家以及C-LAB聲響實驗室，透過他們的創作，讓孩童與陪伴者共同發揮想像力，於展覽現場展開「探索」、「記錄」、「製造」、「傳遞」四種由被動聆聽，轉向主動發聲的一系列動態任務。

⼀⼩時的⼯作坊「如果我有⽯頭的⽿朵？」將以不同形式的聆聽與聲⾳冥想練習做為暖⾝，分享各⾃的聆聽經驗及對⽯頭的想像與記憶。接著前往⼤碉堡後⽅的海（花蓮溪出海⼝）進⾏聲⾳探險， 最後透過繪畫與⾃由書寫，將化⾝為⽯頭的聆聽經驗，製成⼀份屬於你的圖像樂譜。

In the work, she utilized multiple field recordings that she collected in Taiwan &#38;amp; London as well as live recording from the transformation between ice and water. The sounds and poems are revealed gradually as the time passes by and which process can be seen as a poetic metaphor of transition between the tangible/intangible identity and memory.
Eavesdropping on the Wind and CloudAn online curation recording by Shih Ya-Tien in collaboration with artists Iris Chun-Tzu Chang, Sarah Song and Yifeat Ziv. The artists collected sounds from the Taiwan’s coastal area, Sahara Desert, and Amazon rainforest as the elements of their works: Moon Tide Lullaby: Fragility of Sonic Memory (2019-), 10 Sec of Sahara (2018), The Echo of Our Breath (2019) and Amazonian Traces of Self (2019). In the form of interviews, the artists share their travel experiences, and process of how they collected the field recordings and then transformed, interpreted the sounds into their own personal practices.

In the introduction to her Sonic Meditations (1974) composer Pauline Oliveros suggests that her eponymous text scores might produce “through continuous work [..] heightened states of awareness [that] may represent a tuning of mind and body”.

Heightened States of Awareness takes its title from Oliveros and brings together the work of the eleven students graduating from the MA Sound Arts in 2019. The exhibited pieces invite a ‘tuning of mind and body’, presenting approaches that may foreground a non-hierarchical listening amidst multi-sensate entanglements with each other and the environment. The exhibition title might also be understood with respect to this moment of increasing environmental and political emergency, asking us to hear questions that attend to local and personal concerns as well as tuning in to wider notions of social in/justice, and sometimes crossing the boundary of the ‘audible’ altogether.

張君慈－從不曾聽見的聲音感受記憶的循環

張君慈作品《月潮搖籃曲》，曾獲得2020年南瀛獎新媒體類首獎。這系列作品探索介於可以聽見與不可以聽見的聲音；她利用冰的物質特性，製成了一個充滿了即興意味的發聲裝置：將收音裝置與紙條封於冰球中，隨著時間的推移，冰從凍結狀態逐漸消融、轉化為水滴，而紙張上的墨字也逐漸化開，這些細微變化所產生的聲音，是人們可以感知卻未曾「聽見」的。此次張君慈為策展主題「消失的聲音」，延伸發展新作《月潮搖籃曲：細胞》，在作品中增加三個敘事：太平洋牡蠣、珊瑚，以及人類，由生物體周而復始所經歷的過程以及冰塊消融的聲響，讓觀者全神貫注於時間與記憶消逝又重現的循環。UAL London College of Communication &#124; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; 2019 / November

作為月潮搖籃曲的延續，欲探索聲音裝置作為即興表演中的流動可能性。原為被觀看的客體冰球裝置移轉成具有能動性的主體冰墨，冰成為畫器成為樂器，同時間自製的麥克風錄下身體的延展與紙上墨水軌跡奏成的聲響，是跨感官的同時即興。
melting score&#38;nbsp; is the solo improvised performance to bring the installation— moon tide lullaby into life, those ice sculptures, they become subjects to perform rather than objects to be observed. I selected some ice balls with different sizes, they take different time to freeze and melt— like humans’ life to death. Pouring black ink into mould, they became into frozen ink balls, instead of writing ink on the ice like I did in the Melting Voice (2018-) project and watching it melts, the frozen ink ball itself became the brush I used to paint, to draw, holding the constantly changing textures on my hand, the fragile sound of ice became audible— the vibration reflected the friction in between the paper and the movements of my body picking up by the handmade contact microphone, it is the idea of I called it inter-vocalizing, the reverse tension between the work and the artist. 
Sitting on the floor, camera projected the movements onto the white wall behind me silently, I found myself turned into medium, a prophet, a witch melts with black ink, devoting myself to the stage, to the floor, to the audience, to the unknown.

月潮搖籃曲 （moon tide lullaby）運用了在台灣、倫敦兩地做的田野錄音、與冰融化到水的物質特性，製成了一個充滿了即興意味的發聲裝置。作品中的聲音與文字在冰、水轉化的過程中隨著時間改變狀態，借代了身份與記憶的游移，與意義與無意義之間的一種過度。在這件作品中，我想探討的是聲音記憶只能存於時間之中的脆弱本質，記憶是流動的冰，詩句埋在冰裡，冰融的微弱雜訊與化為水的振動隨著時間開始演化、再造、於是過去與未來不再絕對，我們共存於此時此刻。

Tide follows the tension between the moon and the earth to change its volume, the level of intimacy rises and falls through time, we observe the shape of moon to learn their languages - the circulation of life and death, they are the shadows of glimmering sunlight. 

We pass our history through languages / senses / cells in order to sustain our subjective consistency: where do our memories go and how do they recreate themselves through time and imagination? How do our identities re-empower and re-shape us?

From [ice, novel, fact] into [water, poetry, imagination] into [air, word, emptiness], we engage in the moment ice melts and freezes again and again. Witness the voice fading in, memories speak and chant, they become a movable existence, transcending time and space, shaping the circulation of memory, as we remember ourselves. We co-exist in between the dialogue, and experience the present together.

若記憶的重生與逝去是細胞的語言遊戲：
首先，將水剪成字。
重新排列人類嘴裡的潮汐 — 凝固的故事，消融的聲音，以及蒸散後的每一口呼吸。

內在聆聽發生於浪潮之後。

《月潮搖籃曲：細胞》 是表演性的聲音裝置、是展覽期間循環的行爲演出，探索閱讀的當下，腦中內在聆聽（inner listening）發生的瞬間。





我在 2022 年完成了月潮系列的第二部曲《月潮搖籃曲：細胞》。我以三種角色：人類、太平洋牡蠣以及珊瑚的身體寫下三個各自獨立同時交織的故事。接著，我將故事拆散，成為一行一行的字句，埋入冰裡。滿月那一天開始，每一天將有五顆冰球（細胞）生成一極短篇故事，連續 28 天，直至下一個月圓時刻。

我將作品的展示說明化為行動譜記 (event score)，顧展者成為表演者，觀展者成為參與者，在時間中共同閱讀與創造細胞故事的消融與延展。同時，空間中播放著規律如海潮的低頻聲響，在兩種聆聽之間──內在與外在的聆聽，想像與經驗不只是人類 （more-than-human）的存在可能，以及人類與其身體、與他者身體、與其所在環境的共時關係。

Melting Voice 是我於2018年末開啟的藝術研究計畫，對於非物質(物質)記憶之於存在主體的探問，對於(聲音)⾝體的死亡與再生的想像，以及療癒與轉化傷痛的可能。


Melting Voice is an ongoing research project I have been working on since 2018. Inspired by the unreadable messages sent from my grandmother, after her death the decontextualised texts stored on my cellphone becomes mystery, meaning deconstructs and regenerates itself through time, the space we create for imagination grows and the dynamic relationship interchanging between the giver and the receiver. We

〈調頻中：浮石電台 Tuning: Pumice Radio〉透過調頻收音的行動指引，邀請他者透過有意識地聆聽、演奏，尋找穿梭想像與真實訊號之間的海洋。












臨海生活期間，意外拾獲自日本海底火山「福徳岡ノ場」噴發的漂流浮石，成為作品啟動的引子。浮石多孔的物質特性，使其成為自然的傳遞介質，隨著洋流牽引，攜帶著海洋的訊息，直至抵達海岸。我將浮石作為海浪訊號發送的基地，設置一座浮石電台，循環播放真實世界中錄製的海浪聲，收音機調節頻率時的噪訊與海聲的相似與模糊，開啟了在聆聽中遊戲的可能。調頻過程是一次次有意識地聆聽，不同時空的電聲波動在此交疊，這片海是不可見卻可聽的量體 (volume)，是我們此刻共同的海。 (2025)Through the act of tuning, following the score, the work invites participants into attentive listening and performance, in search of an ocean that flows between imagined and actual signals.

During a period of living by the sea, I unexpectedly encountered drifting pumice stones originating from the submarine volcanic eruption of Fukutoku-Okanoba in Japan. This encounter became the beginning of the work. The porous body of the pumice acts as a natural carrier, a medium of transmission, drifting with ocean currents and holding traces of the sea until it arrives at the shore. I imagine pumice as a site for transmitting oceanic signals and set up a pumice radio station that loops recordings of ocean waves from the real world. The resemblance and indeterminacy between tuning noise and ocean sounds unfold a playful dimension of listening.

Each act of tuning is a form of listening in presence. Electrical and sonic waves from different times and spaces meet here. This sea is an unseen yet audible volume—an ocean we collectively inhabit in this moment.

2022年三月，我抵達花蓮溪出海口旁的舊軍事碉堡，展開為期兩個月的駐村。每一天我都去海邊散步，坐在礫石海灘上看海，像顆石頭一樣靜靜地待著聆聽海浪，透過石頭錄下大海的聲音。當海如此地靠近⾝體，我才重新意識⾃⼰正活在⼀座島上。（駐村日誌，節錄之一）

偶然得知去年八月日本海底火山「福徳岡ノ場」噴發，大量漂流而來的浮石擱淺在東海岸的礫石灘上。這是我第一次親眼看到浮石：漂浮的石頭，充滿孔隙的身體，他們像是一座一座微小的島嶼。這些充滿孔隙的石頭，讓一些生物死，也讓一些生物活。聽聞捕鰻苗的漁人說，他們常在浮石中看見鰻苗卡在孔隙中死去的身體。浮石的孔隙卻能讓水草棲息，茁壯地生長。（駐村日誌，節錄之二）

孔隙作為聆聽的想像通道 
《聆聽孔隙：（ ）&#38;nbsp; listening pores: () 》系列透過自製的接觸式麥克風錄下了石頭裡振動的海水，石頭與石頭間的孔隙成為了濾波器（filter)，收錄的海潮聲與空氣作為介質傳至耳中的聲響有著極其不同的質地。將石頭裝置放在手上，兩種身體的孔隙作為聆聽的想像通道，石頭裡振動的海水透過觸摸而再次被聽見──人類的身體成為共鳴箱，手心與石頭的接觸距離調變濾波，聆聽穿梭孔隙之間。(2025)
