Synesthesia Series  (2015-)

Synesthesia Series is the ongoing project I have been working on since 2015. Recording the synesthetic experiences between sound and image, it is an experiment to externalize the process of inner sensory translation through drawing, performative writing, and improvisation.

Synesthesia Series - Drawing: Sakura (2021)
ink, pencil, charcoal, rice paper
49:35, 36 × 78.5 cm
one recording, one uninterrupted listening, one sheet of paper
drawn to Susumu Yokota, Sakura (1999)

Synesthesia Series - Drawing: Rish Rush (2019)
ink, paper, digital print
6:27 (2:25, 2:01, 2:01), dimensions variable
one recording, one uninterrupted listening, one sheet of paper

Listening to Yifeat Ziv's sound piece "Rish Rush // רִשְׁרוּשׁ", I imagine and transform the movement of sound into illustration — a map of where dialogues happen. Exhibited alongside Ziv's work at the Israeli Center for Digital Art, Holon, IL, February 2019
